COVID-19 UPDATE - As excited as we are to offer you an exciting opportunity in 2021, your health and safety are our top priority. We closely monitor and follow the guidelines provided by the CDC, World Heath Organization, U.S. State Department of Travel, Scottish Government and local agencies. You can rest assured, we thoroughly research the vendors we source and utilize to ensure they are following the above mentioned organizations guidelines on cleanliness and traveler safety. Please understand, that while we anticipate the dates for the in-person part of the trip will work - if the above mentioned organizations or the Scottish FA need to restrict travel or advise against travel, we will look to move the in-person part of the course to a later day. The online parts of the course will take place as scheduled.
Plan for either turf or grass. Many clubs and professional facilities now feature both grass and turf surfaces and they will assign a field depending upon availability and weather. If you only bring screw-in studs to play and train in, it could certainly be a problem. Molded cleats and training shoes will be ideal.
The course will be delivered in 3 phases. Phase I and II will be online from February 1st - 5th, 2021. Phase III will be in-person in Edinburgh, Scotland from July 25th - July 31, 2021.
New travel restrictions put in place by the Scottish Government on Monday February 15, 2021now require a negative COVID test and a mandatory 10-day quarantine (at the traveler’s expense). This is regardless of whether you have a negative COVID test and/or have received the vaccine. Due to the above recent changes and restrictions, and at the advice of the Scottish Government to the Scottish FA, only Scottish based coaches (who reside in Scotland) are being invited to in-person coaching this summer across all licenses being conducted by the Scottish FA. For these reasons, the SFA has had to move the in-person part of this course back to December 12-18, 2021.
You will be staying at the Courtyard by Marriott Edinburgh West (https://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/edihw-courtyard-edinburgh-west/?scid=bb1a189a-fec3-4d19-a255-54ba596febe2)
The program includes double occupancy (you will have a roommate), if you want to stay by yourself (single occupancy) you can request it with an additional charge of $500.
The hotel is about 10 minutes from the Edinburgh International Airport (EDI) and within walking distance of Oriam, a world-class facility where the course will be held.
You will be responsible for your own transportation from the airport to the hotel, it is about a 10 minute ride and there are Uber's and Taxi's available. Unless you choose to, you will not need a car after arriving at the hotel.

There are many changes coming out of COVID, one of which is the law around including travel insurance in the price of a trip, we are no longer able to include it. This will depend on if any matches are scheduled during our trip to Scotland. With our trip being in July, we do not include a game in the trip as the schedule is not yet determined. If a game is available and fits into the trip schedule, we will be able to off you the opportunity (optional) to attend. If that is the case, there would be an additional cost.
Taking and using credit cards and debit cards is very common while traveling. To avoid problems, the card should have the purchaser’s name on the card. Ask your personal bank for their recommendation. Yes, ATM’s are readily available all over the world. You can take money out of an ATM with your bank card from home, a small fee may apply.
The best practice for protecting money and for general safety is to be “practical but not paranoid”. ALL travelers should avoid carrying or showing large sums of money during sightseeing activities. Our Generation adidas International staff will not be able to hold money for you. Always keep money/wallets out of plain sight and hold in front pockets or carried with bag/purse in front and not over shoulder on your side or back. Do not leave money (wallets, cellphones, cameras or computers) on tables or counters unattended. It is advised to use reasonable caution, but do not let the worry ruin your trip.
Go to your local electronics department store (i.e. Best Buy, Target etc.) to purchase the required plug adaptor for the country you are visiting.
Yes, travelers can bring their own computer (and electronics) to use on the trip at their own risk.
No, laundry will be up to you if you need to do it during the trip.
It is advisable to make a copy of your passport to carry with you during travel. This of course could be useful/helpful in the unlikely event that a passport has been lost or misplaced. We strongly encourage all travelers to keep a close eye on their passport at all times especially when they are pulling it out and putting it away several times for security checks during airport procedures. We also encourage you to make a copy of the pre-trip travel reference document we will provide that includes important contacts information (phone numbers for our offices, hotels, supervisor). Take one copy with you and leave the other copy with family members back home. Also make a copy of the e-ticket that we provide, or your own agency provides, for reference of booking number and other details related to your departure and return flights.
The final itinerary will be released closer to the departure date, you can find a tentative itinerary on the itinerary tab of this site.
